The Glass Castle -Jeanette Walls
It’s really good! I definitely recommend it. It’s an auto-biography about the author’s childhood where her family was constantly on the run. They lived all over the place (mostly in the desert) on barely anything. Her parents are crazy, violent, and have the strong belief that children need to survive on their own. When Jeanette was only 4, she cooked herself hot dogs and caught on fire! It’s really interesting, READ IT!
Some other books I read recently are:
Lock & Key -Sarah Dessen
This book is purely entertaining. Sarah Dessen always has really well developed and rich, relatable characters. This one is about a girl named Ruby who lived on her own for a while after her mother ran away. Child protective services find her and she moves in with her sister, Cora and her brother in law, Jamie. She meets this guy Nate who is really nice and wonderful but also has some parent trouble to deal with. It’s really entertaining and moving.
Will Grayson Will Grayson -David Levithan and John Green
I saw them speak about this book recently and they are hilarious! I couldn’t read this book in class because I would always crack up while reading it. It’s about two guys named Will Grayson who live generally close to each other. Halfway through the story their lives cross and become slightly twisted. The ending is cheesy for sure, but it’s a nice story and is extreeeeeemely hilarious.
